In Hayao Miyazaki's magical Kiki's Delivery Service, a 13-year-old girl meets the world head on as she spends her first year soloing as an apprentice witch. Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is still a little green and plenty headstrong, but also resourceful, imaginative, and determined. With her trusty wisp of a cat Jiji (a gently subdued Phil Hartman) by her side she's ready to take on the world, or at least the quaintly European seaside village she's chosen as her new home. Miyazaki's gentle rhythm and meandering narrative capture the easy pulse of real life (even if his subject is a girl flying high upon a broomstick) and charts the everyday struggles and growing pains of his plucky heroine with sensitivity and understanding. Beautifully detailed animation and the rich designs of the picture-postcard seaside town of red-tiled roofs and cobblestone streets only add to the sense of wonder. This charming animated fantasy is a wholesome, life-affirming picture that doesn't speak down to kids or up to adults. --Sean Axmaker

"What a wonderful masterpiece"
Kiki is 13 of age who is training to be a witch. By tradition, it is for Kiki to leave her home to spend a year alone in a new town to establish herself as a full witch. Kiki sets herself on her mother's broom with her closest companion, Jiji, a loquacious black cat. She flies off to her new life.

"Absolutely Wonderful!"
This is a wonderful story with beautiful graphics ...I bought it for my god daughter (age 2) & naturally I checked it out before giving it to her & I loved it so much I bought one for myself! Oh..and she loves it too! This book is for all ages!

"Another Miyazaki Wonder"
Just as sweet and charming as can be imagined. Beautifully animated with a clever lighthearted story. A plucky teenage girl, who happens to be a witch, on her own in a big town gets by on the kindness of strangers until she finds her feet. She makes friends, suffers through loneliness, disappointment, fear, doubt, homesickness, the flu and comes out on the other side stronger, smarter, and braver. A perfectly suitable movie for every family member.

"Great family movie"
Yet another great story from Miyazaki-one of his best! A great family movie.

"Kiki's Delivery Service"
This is our third purchase of a Hayao Miyazaki movie. The first ones were Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky. Surprisingly, my children absolutely love his movies. My children, ages 7 and 4, are hard kids to please when it comes to movies. They have to be thoroughly entertained to sit still for 90 min. to 2 hours. Kiki's Deliver Service proved to be one that they want to watch over and over. I highly recommend any one of Miyazaki's movies, Kiki's being the best so far!
