"An enchanting adventure!"
Defenently the best of Miyazaki's films and a terrific anime experiance, Castle in the Sky is about a girl, Sheeta, who is being sought-after by both the military and air pirates, why? It just may have something to do with her crystal neckless! She meets a boy named Pazu who is also looking for answers, his now dead father clamied that he saw Laputa, the floating castle, and was taken for a fool, now Pazu is out to discover Laputa and the truth about it. It somehow seems Sheeta's crystal is somehow linked, and so she wants to know the truth as well. Could it be the military and pirates chasing Sheeta are after Laputa too... This is an egaging action film and the anime style is great and works well with the movie. The characters, though not particularly well rounded, work well with the movie too. You will probably also be doing some thinking over just who are the bad guys, and who are the friends. The are also many "side" characters who do not really add to much to the story. The music is great in this movie, and really gives it an enchanting feeling. I would recommed this memorable film to any anime or action/fantasy fan, and may even call this my favorite movie of all time!

"Miyazaki's Action Adventure Masterpiece"
Laputa: The Castle in the Sky is a masterpiece of the action genre. Disney has finally released this film in a 2-disc set. This DVD set does seem kind of bare boned when compared to other Disney Ghibli sets. Disney has also hired Joe Hisaishi the original composer to update the soundtrack for the English Dub.

"4 1/2 stars, great movie!"
Castle in the Sky... the second movie I seen from Studio Ghibli then it was Kiki's Delivery Service. This movie was brilliant like the others, but I wasn't really "into" it as much as the other movies from Studio Ghibli. It was rather "slow" for me, but not to to much. Its still fun to watch here and there, since I rather not spoil the movie for you, please read what its about if you wish from the other reviewers.

"AN ANIME ACHIEVEMENT"
Castle in the sky is a true Anime masterpiece. A sumptuous, and breath-taking feast of visuals that stands out as testament to the genius of Hayao Miyazaki. And I think it's even better than Miyazaki's spirited away. Miyazaki brings his wonderful drawings, smooth-textured animation and background pictures to life.

The story follows a young girl named Sheeta (voiced by Anna paquin in the English dubbed version) that has a crystal that she wears around her neck that can show the owner the way to a mythical and powerful city in the sky. Sheeta finds herself on the run from the military including the voice of mark Hamill as Gen. Muska, as well as a group of pirates who all want the crystal for their own evil ends. The Pirates are led by Dola, voiced by Cloris Leachman. Sheeta is aided in her quest to find the castle in the sky by a boy named Pazu (James Van Der Beek) who lives in a mining town when Sheeta literally falls from the sky. The pair would later gain the Pirates as allies to find the city of Laputa.

I know Anime purists certainly prefer the Japanese version to the English dubbed version, but to those of us who are somewhat newcomers to Anime, I think it's still a great help to have them in English. And I do think that all of the voice talent did a great job, especially the two leads, Paquin and Van Der Beek. A true treat for Anime fans!

"This was viewed when i was still a child"
Back when i was still a child my parents gave me the opportunity to watch this great anime. I first watched it in chinese and i understood everything, but now that it is in english it seems to be even more enjoyable. This has a great story behind it and this was my favorite from the rest of the others made by miyazaki. So i recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys fantasy and I would recommend parents to allow their children to watch this because it was just something about this movie that attracts attention!
