"Dubs are awful"
Anyone that complains that this movie is bad because it isn't dubbed should have their ears checked. 99.9% of dubs are painful to listen to.

Now, the subtitled could be better.

"under-rated anime masterpiece"
This is a terrific film. The art work is much better than the original which I also admired. The story isn't much but the story of Ghost 1 is really a "borrowed" version of Neuromancer with some Blade Runner and Brazil thrown in--which is fine. I use it for class for that reason. Just don't underestimate this film.

"This is so dissappointing!"
Ok, I am a huge fan of ghost in the shell, but this is just not worth your time...I mean, I had written a 56 slide powerpoint on the whole Ghost in the Shell series, and how awesome it is for my 'basic understanding of Microsoft' exam (along with some other things, but that is besides the point) and I purchased this movie to help with my exam presentation...I ended up fibbing my way through and saying that this movie hadn't come out yet! Believe me, this isn't worth your money to sit and read all the freaking subtitles...maybe in some other movies, but just not this one! If you really are dying to see it, buy it already used off of some garage sale, but don't waist your money buying it anywhere else! (and the only reason why I am using a kid id is b/c I forgot my own password!)

"rating stars should reflect the movie itself"
The reviews that trash this DVD because of the idiotic Dreamworks production are accurate. There is no English track, and the subtitles, too high up in the screen BTW, depict every lousy sound. I almost did not buy it because the cover art suggested low quality animation, which would be plausible in a sequel. I got it anyway because I loved the first GitS.

I was not disappointed. This sequel is absolutely extraordinary. The animation is breathtaking. And as someone who is a fan-lite of animie with no in-depth knowledge of the art form, I must say I love the Japanese style of story-telling evident in this tale.

There are people out there browsing Amazon who are not animie-geeks. They deserve to be able to trust that the reviews will point them to quality films - particularly reviews from fans of this form of animation who should want people to see the good stuff.

So by all means point out the production flaws in the DVD so those who want to wait for a better disc can do so. [But remember: anyone who refused to buy the original Star Wars VHS tapes had to wait an awfully long time for the DVDs. Personally, I would advise anyone who loves animation to see this movie, flawed DVD and all.]

My point, however, is that the Amazon rating stars are like headlines. They shouldn't steer people away from a spectacular flick.

"It needs an english voice!"
This has no english voice not even english subtitles even if this dvd came with just subtitles I would still be pissed cause you can't enjoy most of the movie by looking down all the time Dreamworks should never do amine ever again.
