"He He He ..... cool flick" For the first time since Tristar started releasing the Heisei series of Godzilla films, the dubbing is GOOD!! They even revert to calling Rodan by his official Japanese title (Radon, a name that was switched during the 1956 release of "Radon" in the U.S. because Radon was at that time was the name of a popular brand of soap flakes). The music is great, Ifukube's best until "Godzilla vs Destoroyah". The movie has great effects, in fact about the best you'll ever see in a Godzilla movie. We must thank Tristar for the way they have treated (most) of the Heisei films. They have given a few horrendous dub jobs, but all of the original Japanese scenes are left intact. This film is a must own for any Godzilla fan (I have all of the films dubbed AND many of them in their original Japanese). "Technology VS. Nature" Just got this one and I LIKE it. It introduces the monsters immediately and the fight scenes are GREAT! It even adds emotion to Godzilla when he tries to blast the robot, only to see his flame bounce off. Godzillasaurus is unneeded but, again, it adds something to Godzilla, which will be needed in the series' future. The story involves the discovery of a egg which hatches a baby Godzilla. Godzilla comes to claim it and the humans unleash MechaGodzilla to stop the monster. What is important is that this baby Godzilla has playful, caring even loving interactions with humans. These interactions will be useful in Godzilla vs. Destroyah, when the elder Godzilla dies and the younger Godzilla takes over, as protector of Earth. The failure of MechaGodzilla to destroy Godzilla is due to a false premise. While it is often said that Humans created Godzila, really, Godzilla is a force of nature, like the wind. You can no more stop Godzilla than you can stop the wind. Every attempt to use technology will fail. "A good Godzilla movie" This movie is a great Godzilla flick. If you are a Godzilla fan you must see this movie. "Godzilla Vs. MechaGodzilla is an excellent movie!" I must first point out that the version of this film that I have is the orginal Japanese with English subtitles, so I don't have the dubbed version. Thank God, because the dubbing always makes the film not as good. However it is interesting to note that in the original version, the characters speak English half the times anyways, especially when they are using MechaGodzilla to fight Godzilla, and there are a few American actors in the film as well. Anyway, for me, "Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla", or "Gojira tai MechaGojira" in Japanese, is one of the best Godzilla films ever made. First of all, Godzilla, while he is not as slim as he was in "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" or "Godzilla vs. Mothra", is an excellent suit, that makes him seem even more reptilian than most times before. Rodan also makes a refreshing and good entrance in the film, as well as in the finale, and the suit of Rodan is much better than that of the older style. The Mecha-Godzilla suit is, in my opinion, the best looking of the film suits, since the "robot" is rounder and nicer looking than the evil version from the 1970's. Music is another highlight of this film. Akira Ifukube composes, in my opinion, some of his best work for the film, including the MechaGodzilla theme, which is excellent in my opinion, and the best Godzilla oponent music, on par with the King Ghidorah theme from "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah". The special effects of the film are another highlight, and the finale battle scene, with Godzilla, Rodan, and MechaGodzilla all fighting each other, is an excellent piece in the middle of a couple of skyscrapers and buildings of a city. Overall, this film is an excellent addition to any Godzilla fan library, and I was glad to order this film when I did. "kills trizilla!" awesome fight scenes and the dubbing is okay. besides that, miki saegusa and godzilla are cool! |
