"Best Animated Film of 2000" Pokemon the Movie 2000 is a big improvement from the first film. The animation is a lot better than the first movie. The story is also fast paced and exciting. The battles between the legendary birds can only be described as awesome! There is never one boring moment in this film! It also ties in a little emotion along with hints to strong feelings between Ash and Misty. This movie is for every age group. It leaves the viewer craving more.... Can we say a third Pokemon movie? "Pokemon the Movie 2000" I believed this movie to be exceptionally good, as to the fact that nothing went slowly to put on extra time. It was enirely story, and a great one at that. The fact that it was extremely action packed and it had a horde of new pokemon was a great way to earn, in my opinion, 10 stars, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a pokemon fan. I also think it's good because it has some jokes adults will understand. Ultimatly, I come to my conclusion that this movie was just plain cool! "Pokemon, not just for kids." First of all, let me begin by saying that I am 30 years old, and I think that Pokemon is one of the best things to come along in a very long time. I had seen Pokemon the Movie 2000, (or Revelation Lugia as it is called in Japan) and I will say, all in all that I was very impressed with the story and the music in this film. The animation is not first rate by any means, but it really isn't all that bad either. Believe me, I have seen much worse. I feel that the common misconception about Pokemon is that Pokemon deals with an on-going story, kind of like a "soap-opera" in a sense. Those who don't follow the series will of course have a much more difficult time in understanding the characters and the overall story than someone who does follow the series. Star-Trek, The X-Files and other such series are no different in this regard. I feel that Pokemon can bring magic and a very powerful meaning without condoning violence to anyone who is involved about it. Pokemon tells one that it is okay to dream and have goals. Believe me, I cannot say that about too many other series in this day and age. "This Pokemon Movie was great!" Pokemon the Movie 2000 was the best Pokemon movie I've ever seen! It was much better than the first one.The graphics were much better. I really liked the new Pokemon. Also really story was great. I thought it was good because it actually had a plot. Also because it had some of my favorite Pokemon. All in all it was a really cool Pokemon movie! "The movie is bigger and better.....but what's with the DVD?" First of all, I know we don't need an echo on this page, but this one is MUCH better than the first one, even you liked the first one. The danger is more real (and realistic), and there are better characters, better visual effects, better dubbing, and the ending's more touching than mushy, since the ending to the first one, which you can't deny, was MUSHY! So let me ask Warner Home Video a question: What's with the DVD! I know at the point I wrote this review the features listed on this page may need to be updated and verified before the DVD is out, but by the looks of the features displayed now, I'm disgusted! All we get is some "Soundtrack Live" performances and a sneak preview of Pokemon 3? HELLO! The first one was worse than this, and when the first one was on DVD, it was PACKED! (Despite the fullscreen presentation) This one is better, and it's SHRIMPY! I don't get it! And if they're not going to load this thing with features, they might as well at LEAST include a widescreen presentation, because unlike the first one, this one actually deserves to be shown in widescreen! When I saw this movie in the drive-in (in it's 1:85:1 glory), I knew from the minute the movie started I would be after it on DVD the minute it hit shelves. But if the DVD's really as sparce as it's described here, I won't bother, and who can blame me? I can think of a bazillion extras to put on this disc that will please DVD fans and Pokemon fans alike. To summarize; GREAT movie, so the DVD deserves to be great also. So why isn't it? |
