"Unengaging and not up to the hype."
I can appreciate that there are a lot of folks out there that loved this movie--for me, it just didn't capture my interest.

for all the hooplah surrounding this movie, I found it to be a tedious disapointment on numerous levels. mainly, it just never drew me in. on some levels, the story was interesting and some of the visuals were cool--but I've seen science fiction both animated and live action that took me to greater levels of wonder and interest.

This film rubbed me the wrong way, right from the get-go. the cheesy pop and "smooth" jazz soundrack seemed out of sync and blaring and discoloured my entire viewing.

furthermore, just found the characters to be flat and found it difficult to feel much interest in them. when any harm befalls the central figures, I just thought: "oh." same reaction when they survive any of these things...

it should be noted that I watched in in Japanese, with subtitles. usually, this seems to catch the intended flavor of the film better than dubbing (usually badly done). afterwards, I watched a few scenes with the english dub and found they had a lot more vitality and there was considerably more dialogue that helped to flesh out characters and situations better.

it also should be noted that I have enjoyed several animated films, Japanese anime usually just bogges me and sometimes irritates me with its inconsistencies and incongruities. I also have never seen the television series.

"Anime sure to please..."
"Cowboy Bebop: The Movie" is a fun anime feature that will please fans of the genre as well as fans of action and sci-fi. Taking place in the distant future on Mars, the film tells the story of a group of rogue "cowboys" looking to make an honest (or dishonest) buck. When a bioterrorist is lurking the planet, a bounty of $3 million is put on his head. Our heroes, led by Spike, race to collect the money. It's fast, funny, and very enjoyable with rich animation and interesting characters. Overall a very fun pick.

"if you are a fan of bebop buy it but..."
this movie could've been better.i didn't like story at all.bebop's tv series' better than this crap hundred times.

"Yes, it's in english."
My main question before ordering this was "Is it in english?"
The answer is "yes". It's engish dubbed like the movie you saw at the theatre. It also has subtitle options.

"Great movie!!!"
Yes, finally new bebop material after all these years. Basically this is just like a long bebop episode with a few exceptions. Now when I say Long episode, I say it out of respect and not in any sort of deragotory way. The show itself is probably my favorite example of anime and this movie just reminds me why. Very stylistic and very "bebop", the movie has more action than any of the bebop episodes and plenty of romp for your pomp (...). The only part I found a bit iffy was the opening scene and early parts of the movie felt a bit gimmcky but I got over it and felt the movie was great. So if you like bebop then this is an essential exprience.
