"Newcomer likes this one"
I'm a relative newcomer to the world of Japanese animation. Cowboy Bebop was on my list and I was not dissapointed. I have never seen the series so I cannot judge on the differences or likenesses.

The story is as often ten times better than American animations. This time it's a bounty hunt for a man who wants to destroy the world, which in this case is Mars.

The choise of music is fun, some country/western and other English language pop songs (I always watch the anime movies in Japanese with subtitles and the animations of course perfect. Sometimes it reminded me of The Matrix because of the fighting scenes and camera angles. The young hacker Ed is the funniest character because of her speech and movement.

Worthwile!

"very good movie"
Mind u, i havn't finished the series yet, but i couldn't wait to see the movie when i found out there was one! The movie is excelent! I've divided this movie into 3 parts. The first 30 minutes are cool when we first see all the characters, the middle 10 minutes are ok, but theres alot of talking so sit back and relax, then it picks bak up agian for the last 45 minutes with cool action. the soundtrack is an A+! With new songs and staying true to the cowboy bebop theme it's the best! animation is wonderful, much better and clearer than in the series. so join Edward, Jet, Faye, and Spike as they track down a terrorist who plans to wipe out all the humans on Mars! If you've ever seen at least 3 episodes of the series, u will love this movie! so what does that say for the rest of us who love it? ^^ this is a must-have for any anime fan! Now if they'd jus make an InuYasha movie in english, we'd be set! Agian, at the very least rent it! You won't be dissapointed!

"Wow"
Im usually not a fan of animated shows like this, considering that in all honesty the majority of these Japanese shows and films consist of corny childrens shows or even more corny shows of cliched personas going around shooting people alongside of slutty girls with cat ears and/or gigantic breasts. Im not to waste time or money on crap like that. And for everyone who thinks that if something is animated that it must be for kids has appearently never seen any japanese films becuase if they did im sure they wouldnt let their kids near it. But dont let the R rating worry you too much. This isnt one of those pornographic films japan seems to love so much. No, its simply like a regualar american film, just animated. Theres some violence, but its used in good moderation and the nudity isnt too bad. Faye gets her shirt cut off by one of the guys, and there is a scene of her in the shower, but trust me, you dont actualyl see anything innaproprait. I enjoyed the fact that the film was done maturly and stylish, and the animation seems to make it even cooler. To start, the animeation was AMAZING. Some of the best that exsists, im sure. And the visual effects were amazing, making you think that these characters were let loose in the real world and cameras were watching them. The story is one of those classic 'mr crazy bad man wants to destroy the entire world', but its done with such a differnt spin. the 'villan' is Vincent Volaji, a test subject who lost his memory from the experiments done on him. He believes that life is purgatory and his goal is to realease the world from this purgatory and to face judgement. The title 'Knocking on Heavens Door' is so perfect taht it couldnt have been better. the entire movie is based on vincent and as he calls it 'the door between heaven and hell.' Vincent's chracter is incredibly deep and philisophic and makes up for much of the amazing quality of the film. He was prbably my favorite part. The action scenes were increadibly well-cheoriographed, like they had been cut from Kill Bill or a Jackie Chan movie. Even if you dont like this kind of thing im sure you could find something you could like. This isnt a disney movie and this isnt a pokemon movie either, so keep that in mind.

"Great movie that compliments a great series."
Cowboy Bebop is the saga of a group of bounty hunters and their lives aboard the Bebop. Spike is the tough, yet laidback main character. His partner is Spike, a former ISSP officer. The two formed a partnership aboard the Bebop. Next came Ein the Welsh Corgi data dog, then Faye Valentine, then Ed the teenage hacker. These characters make up the crew of the Bebop, the best group of bounty hunters in the universe although luck never really is on their side.

So with the background info out of the way, this movie takes place right around episode 24 in the series.(SPOILER**) It begins with Faye going after what should have been a routine bounty pickup, but while out she witnesses a massive explosion. Many people miles away begin to get sick for some strange reason that may be linked to the explosion and a man that Faye saw at the scene of the explosion. What ensues is an action packed movie dealing with the threat of terrorism. Spike and the crew discover that they are dealing with a man named Vincent Volaju that was presumed to have died in a war. But he is alive and he has a plan to take out the human race by the use of nano-bots that can't be seen by the human eye. Can the Bebop crew stop Vincent and save Mars from destruction? Watch to see how this one ends, I wont say.

Overall I love this movie. Maybe I am slightly biased because I am a huge fan of the series. In anime nothing is better than Bebop, at least in my mind. This movie perfectly compliments the series, unlike most movies that take more of your money. For any fan of Bebop you have to own this along with the series. Honestly I think CBTM is as good as any movie of any kind that I have seen in the last few years. It has a believable plot, with the serious topic of terrorism which we now deal with in our world every day. The movie is just under 2 hours I believe, but it never drags. The whole storyline flows smoothly from beginning to end and I never became bored the longer the movie went on. So let us sum this up: great cast of characters, lots of action (specifically the magnificent fight scenes between Vincent and Spike), wonderful animation and lastly it is just plain cool. And I mean everything about it. You can usually find it for a not-too-bad price. There are some cool extras included, but it isnt "loaded" like you would think special edition would be. This is a great movie bottom-line, with a great but complex theme, and features the coolest character in anime, Spike Spiegel. If you have never watched the series that is okay, you will still catch on to the storyline pretty quick. Not much backstory is required to understand what is going on. And if you are not into anime at all, I think this is a movie that can even be enjoyed by you, it is just that good. So check it out if this sounds like your thing. But beware, you may want to buy the whole tv series after seeing this if you don't already have it, because it will leave you wanting more.

"a movie that does cb justice"
i have been a big fan of cowboy bebop for years so i was psyched to hear about the movie. If you have seen the real folk blues part 2 which is the final episode of the series then you know that spike dies after a battle with his old buddy vicious. However the movie is based off the second 3 issue cowboy bebop shooting star series. In it we see our favorite space cowboys(another name for bounty hunters)going after another bounty however the fate of mars rests in their hands. After faye witnesses an explosion on a highway on mars that kills many of the people near it and infects the population with an unknown virus within a couple of mile radius of the explosion faye gets a glimpse of the first person that should've died in the blast walk over the side of the road and dissapear without a trace. Later strange ransom notes left by a hacker are appearing all over mars. The crew of the bebop once again is after another bounty but with the military agencies and other organizations out to keep the truth behind what is really going a secret Spike and the others must solve the mystery before it is too late. They may be in over their heads on this one and as Spike has said many times before this may be the one where he doesn't come back something that speaks true for him and the others. I liked this movie because it is filled with action a good plot and an awesome soundtrack done by seatbelts and the famous Yoko Kanno who's jazzy tunes can be heard in the series and other animes such as wolf's rain and Macross and Great vocals by Mai Yamane.
