From Description
Japanese pop stars Gackt and HYDE star in this wild hybrid of futuristic science fiction, John Woo-style gunplay, and Gothic vampire horror. MOON CHILD follows a group of childhood friends as they advance in a futuristic criminal underworld. Sho (Gackt) feels he is doomed to walk in his idol Kei's (HYDE) footsteps as a vampire with the gift of eternal life and the curse of blood thirst. Over time, their tight friendship becomes corrupted because of their rivalry and love for the same woman. Filmmaker Takahisa Zeze brings a stylized sting to the blood draining and hyper violent proceedings. Japanese with English subtitles.

"Gackt and Hyde"
It really helps if you're already a fan of these two guys. Both are muscians and fantastic ones at that. However some of their behavior and appearances (especially Gackt's) can be a little confusing to those not aware of their personalities. It's not neccessary to be a fan of theirs to enjoy this excellent movie, but it certainly helps.

The story is essentailly about friendship, betrayal, and redemption. It focuses on a group of orphans who've grown up together in the fictional country of Maleppa, an industrial inner-city wasteland made up of immigrants and the conflicts that arise from their co-habitation. Gackt and Hyde give surprisingly great perfomances as Sho and Kei. Surprising because it's easy to consider this a commercial exploitation of the musicians in order to cash in on their popularity. Of course, I don't speak Japanese so I couldn't really comment on their line delivery, however I belived the tears and the screams. The characters show great emotional pain and joy so that's what I'll judge the actors on.

"Much better than expected"
This movie was much better than I expected, considering both Gackt and Hyde are j-rock idols and not actors. The description is so wrong though. While there are hints that both of them like her, don't expect much in the way of romance...and don't expect them to turn their backs on the visual kei factor...which means there are some hints of shounen ai in this movie. There is very much gunfighting (Gackt is so very pretty with weapons) and violence, but nothing to cry over...and nothing too dramatic or explicit. There are also many funny moments, and sad ones too I suppose. Don't expect to be blown away...but this is an enjoyable film.

"Vampires and eye candy!"
I liked this movie. I actually had to watch it a couple of times before I actually stopped drooling profusely over Hyde and Gackt (two of the most beautiful men alive) and paid attention to the fact that there was actually a STORY to work with, too.
There is a lot of gunplay in the film, and not as much vampire action as I would have liked, but the story was touching, although at times a little too much was going on at once. It was mostly for me eye candy though. Hyde looks delicious (I prefer him dark-haired, though). Gackt looks extra-tasty, pretty eyes and all. My $20 was well spent.

"Awesome"
Before watching this movie, I must admit that my opinion of both Gackt and typical Japanese movies was very low. However, after watching the amazing subtleness and art of Moonchild, I have been completely blown away. Moonchild excels on so many different levels, leaving the mind to explore any path it wishes.

"Very good movie"
I love this movie, its one of my favorite forein movies. I cried at the end. I really did like all of the characters, and how they developed in the film. They looked cool as hell most of the time,(gackt and hyde) but sometimes dressed like women. But hey they are cool. I thought the vampire idea was awsome. Very good film.
