![]() This film is cheesy i mean you cant turn a comic into a film without making it cheesy, it differs from the cartoon manga series and comic books slightly but this is still a very good film considering how low the budget was. The fight scenes were good and I think they concentrated more on the special efects and the fight scenes more than they did the story line, but it gets better in the second movie but you must watch this movie to understand the second, my opinion is this is a must see movie! ![]() Many people do not understand these types of films..they are not meant to be Award Winning films Guyver was made a little goofy on purpose. the creatures and designs were tha creation of Steve Wang the director and master creature creator responsible for the Predator Alien and many others. You have to respect the movie simply for the creatures look at the detail. I think pulling off guys in foam suits looking beleivable is truly an art form when done right. I praise this movie for its creatures and FX ![]() For those of you seeking action, the "Guyver" should be #1 on your list! This movie has great martial arts moves, superb special effects, and great top-notch actors. Although a little corny at times, the movie tells what the Guyver is truly meant to be. Don't skip out on "Guyver 2: Dark hero," either. ![]() This movie is so cool. People either love it or hate it. I think the special effects were good for thier budget. The Guyver costume is just wicked, man. I rented this because my friend recommended it, then I went out and bought it in short order. This movie is not meant to be serious, it has lots of good fights and stunts, although they leave out alot of the guyver's weaponry (i think it was because of the budget) but they still do the megasmasher at the end. they half to really, its his big finisher, it goes without saying, if you make a guyver movie, you half to have the megasmasher as the big finale. And the best part of this movie is the music! my god its just inspiring! watch it, it just wouldnt be the same without the music, the theme at the opening credits. and the transformation scene where he first becomes the guyver, that music makes the Guyver seem so heroic and incredible... ![]() Unlike much of the run-of-the-mill manga and anime that is shipped to the United States, The Guyver series has proven to be far and away one of the best. If you appreciate Akira, Ghost in the Shell, or Princess Mononoke, you will love The Guyver series. The art is fantastic and the story is straight forward enough to follow as well as complex enough to intrigue. Unfortunately, The Guyver series has been overlooked in mainstream anime circles while mediocre series like The Bubblegum Crisis and Tank Wars have eaten up most of the press. I would suggest, of course, starting with the first episode and working through the last, as they run as a story, much like The Macross or Loddoss Wars. Also, very unfortunately, the 12th volume seems to be the last one out of Japan. Finally, I have to give this series five stars and highly recommend it to fans of anime. |
