![]() For Guyver fans like me (I've read the original Japanese comics that the movie was based on), you will probably be satisfied with this film. I mean, the costumes were good (good enough considering it was filmed in 1991, anyway), and the special effects, stunts and actions were great. But if you were looking for a strong storyline, then I suggest you turn to the animated series, which is a replica of the comic books. In my opinion I think the producers paid too much attention in special effects. As for the acting... well, I almost thought the movie was trying to teach you speak proper English (maybe that was the producers' original intention to ensure its marketability in Japan?). Even the slangs and bad languages used were pronounced ever so clearly, word for word... And why is Mark Hamil shown on the cover of the video with the Guyver costume, anyway? He's not the Guyver in the movie if I remember correctly... Having said all this, DON'T miss out "Guyver 2: The Dark Hero". That's how a movie should, in my opinion, really be. ![]() This is the best movie I've seen in awhile. Quite Honestly, I thought it was beter than Star Wars ![]() This is quite possibly the most thrilling Manga series I have yet to come across in my lifetime. The graphics are so good and the storyline is ace. Buy me now okay? ![]() This is a great video! In the video, Sho can't use the Guyver because he had to use the Guyver to kill his dad when his dad was turned into a monster. Because of this, Sho hates the Guyver, and can't turn into the Guyver. What happened during the fight was this: Sho's dad turned into a Zoanoid, called Enzyme 2, and attacked Sho. Enzyme 2 destroyed Sho's brain, (eww!) and the Guyver shifted into defense mode. While in defense mode, Sho had no control over the Guyver, and the Guyver killed Enzyme 2. That is why Sho can't turn into the Guyver. This is bad, because an extra powerful Zoanoid named Aptom is going to try and kill Sho. Aptom is interesting because he has no Zoanoid body to call his own. Instead, Aptom can take on the forms of other Zoanoids. Aptom can not only take on the forms of other Zoanoids, he can enhance their abilities, as well. Not only that, Aptom can take the forms of different Zoanoids, and combine them into a single body. The only thing I don't like Aptom is his voice. When Sho or a Zoanoid transforms, their voices change slightly; their voices become metallic and tinny. Aptom's voice was already strange when he was in human form, but the transformation altered his voice so much that at times it was extremely difficult to understand what he was saying. That is the only thing I don't like about this video. ![]() Let me just say that the previous reviews shown here are pertaining to the live action Guyver movie. The GUYVER anime series, now distributed by Manga in 12 parts, is a riveting story about a young man named Sho who accidentally becomes the Guyver and must defend himself and his love ones from an evil corporation named Chronos. Guyver, The - Data 12: Reactivation is unfortunately the last anime installment of this fantastic series from Japan. But fortunately for Guyver fans the manga (written novels) are still being published (they're up to book 16 now in Japan). It is imperative that the other 11 parts are seen in order to understand #12. This is an excellent series worthy of becoming an addition to your anime collection. Purchase it and see. |
