"Anime has just reached a new level !!!"
The optical motions of buildings and people are at an extreme.Complete with blur effect which occurs on objects that are near when cameras are focused far make the visuals the best yet.Visually its the most detailed and luminous graphics and animation to date.Lets not forget the storyline. One of the most compelling story lines in anime to date. The only thing I didn't like was the need to read subtitle because it was only in japanese but this fact I won't let diminish my rating because its not the animators falt we don't understand Japanese.

"THIS DVD IS DEFECTIVE"
I seriously loved this film and wanted to give it five stars, but alas, it was released without the advertised English subtitles. Dreamworks has admitted they goofed, and hopefully a recall will come soon. If you buy it, beware! The English subtitles are closed-captioned, and if you watch it on a widescreen tv in anamorphic format, the subtitles will be HUGE, obscuring what is one of the most beautifaul animated films ever made. To add insult to injury, it has no English dub, which can be a problem if you simply want to admire the animation. I can't believe Dreamworks released this work of art in such terrible condition. For Shame!

"Serious critique - non-fanboy"
Innocence has incredible animation that rivals even the original. Human movement beautifully documented, at least as well as Perfect Blue. The action scenes are brilliantly choreographed. It's creepy as all get-out, and I liked it.

But, the plot was rather bland, the characters shallow (they're better in the Stand Alone Complex), and the movie is way too full of pretentious, convoluted, pseudo-philosophical, wannabe-intellectual garbage. It's even more ridiculous than the original.

It's still worth watching. You can fast-forward through the talking.

"Amazing film but a horrible product"
I am not rating the movie, but the product. This movie was simply amazing. It features some of the best combination of CG and Anime I have ever seen. The story is very deep and is truly a worthy sequel to the original.

The DVD is a horrible product. No English track and tiny, hard to read subtitles. I did not know this was subtitled until I got it home. I paid full price for this product and I expect way more than what I received. I am very disappointed with this release and I will definitely be very careful about making any future purchases released by this company.

Here is an idea. Get the original awesome voice actors from the original and have them do the sequel. I do hope they make a 3rd movie in this series.

"Breathtaking Visuals, horrible subtitles."
Visually this moving is everything your expect in a 2nd GITS, although a little short on action. The only thing that really stinks is that you cant enjoy the visuals becuase busy trying to read tiny subtitles and understand needlessly complex dialogue. Not to mention with the subtitles arent distracting your attention and there is a rare quiet scene in the move the close captioning kicks in, WTF? Watching it on my 52 LCD the subtitles are impossible large as well.

But watching it a 2nd and 3rd and not turning on the subtitles this film is really visually breathtaking while staying true to the original.

As one of the other reviewers stated there is some really uneeded mental gymnastics here, which I would not even mind so much if I didnt have to read them and watch the film at the same time.

Thank goodness I checked this out on netflix first, Ill wait to buy the dubbed version.
