From Amazon.com The fourth Dragon Ball Z movie was released in 1991 under the title This Is the Super Saiya-jin, Son Goku. Goku and Krillin use their powers to deflect a giant asteroid from striking the Earth. But the asteroid is really the ship of the evil Lord Slug, who bullies Gohan and Bulma to get the Dragon Balls and obtain the eternal youth he desires. The newly regenerated Slug begins to "terrafreeze" Earth, killing inhabitants and transforming the planet into a gargantuan space vessel. During their inevitable duel, Goku learns that the now-gigantic Lord Slug is the last member of a race of "super Namek-jins." Goku eventually defeats him with some help from Gohan and Piccolo. For the U.S. release, Funimation has added an intrusive rock soundtrack--and five minutes of obnoxious commercials at the beginning of the tape. Unrated; suitable for ages 8 and up: Considerable cartoon violence, drug use. --Charles Solomon |
"Not Bad" As much as I can tell you about this movie it has something to do with an evil Lord Slug who came on earth the get the dragonballs to wish for eternal youth he succeeds, then begins killing living beings on earth and transforming the planet into a space vessel. He is the last of the Super Namek jins, his weak spot is towards the end he turns into a giant Picclo broke off his ears and tells gohan to start making the sound he was making earler he nevers tells Gohan what sound cause lord slug would know about it, Gohan starts to get the hint and remembers that he was whistling while playing with his dragon pet, when Gohan started whistling using that as a weapon Lord Slug ears start to heart cause nameks have big ears especially when a namek itself is a giant. "Very good DBZ" This is definetely one of the better DBZ "movies." It has lots of fighting, right from the start, unlike others, which take up to 20 minutes to get going. The basic story of this one is that Lord Slug, a super namekian, has come to earth to terafreeze the planet. Goku, Piccolo and Gohan must stop him! Anyway, the one thing I didn't like about this movie was that, like all the other DBZ movies (except for Broly) is TOO SHORT! The only movie that goes over an hour is Broly, and that one seems stretched, and too long. Also, there weren't any good bonus features! I reccomend this movie, but if you don't have the money, just get it on VHS. (Uncut) The only better thing about the DVD's is that they have the original theatrical Japenese versions, which are really cool to see. This is because the japenese versions are old, and they are completely uncut. I would also reccomend Dead Zone, Bojack Unbound, Cooler's Revenge and (when they come out) the Ultimate Uncut editions. "A great movie for the fans" All those people who give this movie 3, 2 or 1 stars aren't true fans of DBZ. Only the true fans (like myself) will appreciate this. I hope I've upset all of you so-called "fans" who are about to bash me. I really enjoyed the action in this movie and it makes perfect sense. Sure, it doesn't take place in the DBZ time period (what movie doesn't? Then you have all of these people drooling over Movie 12, which is obviously the most out-of-place movie to exist) and the could machine doesn't really make sense, but then again what DOESN'T make sense in DBZ? Buy/rent this movie if you love DBZ and are a true fan. You will not be dissapointed. "Anime with a killer soundtrack!!" This paticular Dragon Ball Z movie has all sorts of metal bands doing the soundtrack! Boy Hits Car, Deftones, this movie rocks!! "Good Movie." Alright, first of all I am not a kid. I'm just way too lazy to make an acount on amazon, ok back to the movie. Lord Slug is infact a great movie, right from the start there is some action. obviously, ALL the dbz movies must have those horrid corny scenes when they try to make you laugh..and they dont they just piss you off ¬_¬. Lord Slug doesn't have too much of those scenes and I must say that the fight scenes are very good. it's not so amazing how they kill this villain, but it's entertaining. I rate this movie 4 Stars. the reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the following facts: 1. Bulma uses very corny phrases, for example when she yells at Lord Slug she calls him a "Geek". That is something you totally do not want to hear in an action movie and Lord Slug says "Come to papa" when he steals Gohans dragon ball. these are small details ive noticed, but they really screw the movie up a bit. :| 2. Three of the villains that work for Lord Slug have rather annoying and stupid voices, They make you feel like if you're watching some kind of kids show. 3. I don't understand how Lord Slug got terribly beaten up when Goku made a hole in his stomach. Slug is a namekian for crying out loud. he could have regenerated and besides that, he dies because Goku threw a energy blast at him and Slug took the blast and crashed against this machine he had. (big explosion) I don't find that something powerful enough to destroy him. --------------------------------------------------------------- Overall: This is a good movie, I highly recommend it to you, those crappy scenes aren't a big deal. remember some stupidness has to blend in with all the action. But I still say this movie is worth it. It has great rock music during the good scenes. |
